Overview of C

C is a computer programming language developed in 1972 by Dennis M ritchie at the bell telephone laboratories to develop the UNIX operating system.

C is also called mother language of all programming language since it is most widely use of computer programming language.

This language is used to develop system softwares and operating system.

In the year 1988 ‘C’ programming language standardized by ANSI (American national standard institute), that version is called ANSI-C

In the year of 2000 ‘C’ programming language standarlized by ‘ISO’ that version is called C-99

The UNIX operating system, the C compiler, and essentially all UNIX application programs have been written in C.

C had now become a widely used professional language for various reason:-

  • Easy to learn
  • Programs are efficient
  • Structured Language
  • Can handle low level activities
  • Can be compiles on various platforms
